UN UNITED NATIONS’ Members Human Rights Council elections 2013

(UN) United Nations members scheduled elections 2013 for Human Rights Council. Asia-Pacific states had five candidates— Saudi Arabia, Jordan, China, Maldives and Vietnam, to take the four open seats on the council to be decided in a General Assembly vote on November 12.
After Jordan’s withdrawal, the other four candidates will run unopposed and will easily win the elections.
Earlier this week, Jordan dropped its bid for a seat on the UN Human Rights Council, leaving Saudi Arabia a clear path in the now uncontested election next Tuesday according to report.
On Tuesday, the UN General Assembly votes to fill 14 seats on the 47-member council, the UN’s highest human-rights institution.
